Meet The Team
Greg Engelbrecht – President
Greg Engelbrecht graduated from California State University, Chico in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and minor in Marketing. Upon graduation, he began his career with Davis and Doran Advertising, a New York based firm with offices in both New York and London at that time.
When Davis and Doran sought to expand its operations to the West Coast, Greg played an integral part in assisting the company’s Vice President with the opening of the Santa Clara office, and again a year and half later with the opening of the Los Angeles office. During his tenure at Davis and Doran, Greg handled accounts such as Fujitsu, Knott’s Berry Farm, Varnet and Taco Bell.
In 1993, Greg returned to Chico to open his own full-service marketing and advertising agency, Engelbrecht Advertising. Since its inception, Engelbrecht Advertising has grown to be the largest advertising agency from Sacramento to the Oregon border, representing dozens of national and local clients such as R. W. Knudsen, Colusa Casino, Lares Dental, Black Bear Diner corporate franchise, Corning Ford and several North State casinos. Through a philosophy of honesty, integrity and trust, Greg has cultivated strong relationships within the community which serve as the backbone of his successful company.
Janina Thekla Brückner-Carter (aka: Ja) – Senior Account Executive
Janina was born and raised in Germany and decided to come to the US, after graduating High School, as an Au Pair (a fancy way of saying live-in babysitter) to Cupertino, California. She liked California so much that she applied for a foreign student visa and transferred to Chico State where she met her husband Brian in the Communication Design program. Her academic credentials include a BA in Communication Design, with a focus in graphic design. Her professional qualifications include 14 years in the marketing and advertising industries. As the first employee of Engelbrecht Advertising, she grew with the business into the agency’s position of Creative Director and Senior Account Executive. She’s a mother of two cute, little monsters, Landon and Helena, and recently moved to Forest Ranch where she enjoys a quiet lifestyle with her family…
Michele Dwyer – Controller
Michele Dwyer, a Chico State graduate with a BA in Liberal Studies, a minor in math and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential now holds the position of Controller at Engelbrecht Advertising. She is responsible for all financial aspects of the company. The highlights of her life are her two children Addison and Emily. Michele believes that you should take each day captive and live it to the fullest; which usually means dancing like no one is watching and apologizing in advance if they are; not judging but encouraging others and to know themselves, accept responsibility and do their best.
A California native, Sean was born and raised in the Los Angeles area before moving to Santa Barbara where he earned his B.A in Environmental Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He moved to Chico in 1999 and has spent the past decade in the sales, marketing and advertising field, most recently as the Director of Marketing at Colusa Casino Resort. Sean joined the team at Engelbrecht Advertising in 2011 to provide his leadership experience in marketing, business development & management. Outside of work Sean loves spending time with his wife Amanda, son Dylan and daughter Ally, and is an avid soccer player/fan and outdoor enthusiast.
Brian Carter- Video/Audio Production
A California native, Brian was born and raised in the Bay Area, and moved to Chico to attend college. After a few years at Butte Community College, he transferred to Chico State where he earned his BA in Communication Design, and met fellow employee and soon-to-be wife, Janina. With over 15 years experience in the field, Brian wears many hats at EA, including video & audio editor, copywriter, videographer, animator, graphic & web designer, IT administrator, and all-around computer-fixer. Aside from being dad to two amazing children, Brian somehow finds the time for his hobbies, which include mountain-biking, computer gaming, and building custom computer cases.
Jenny Wantt – Account Executive
Originally from Sonoma, CA, Jenny Wantt moved to Chico in 1999 and has spent the past 12 years in a marketing role. She refined her marketing abilities while working for York Publishing, L&W Stone and Engelbrecht Advertising. She rejoined the EA team in 2011, bringing her unique skill set of problem solving, thinking outside the box and a love of direct marketing. Jenny is a happy Chico resident and loves outings to farmer’s markets and Bidwell Park with her husband Brad, daughter Ruby and dog Savannah, a Boxer.
Keri Brennan moved to Chico, Ca to attend CSU Chico where she graduated with a B.A. in Communication Design; Media Art. Her experience ranges from boutique advertising agencies to radio broadcasting. During her time at two previous agencies Keri excelled in account coordination for an array of clients ranging from the medical, retail and automotive industries. In 2010 Keri joined the team at Engelbrecht Advertising to focus on client service and account management. Outside of work Keri is always keeping up with her two Chihuahua’s and a full social calendar. A self proclaimed ‘foodie,’ you can find Keri trying out all the local restaurants for great dining and drinks.
Gary Baugh – Graphic Designer
Gary Allen Baugh was born in Crescent City Ca but grew up in West Memphis Arkansas. He started painting at the age of 22 and has made a living in art and design since then. In Memphis he worked with an architect producing drawings of buildings and architectural models. He moved back to Ca in 1997 and a year after that he came to Chico to Study Graphic Design at CSU Chico. After getting his BA in graphic design he went to work for the CSU Chico Research foundation were he produced over 30 illustrations for Ca Scenic Byways. He is a graphic designer with EA and continues to paint and show his work throughout the area. He serves the City of Chico as an Arts Commissioner.
Originally from Walnut Creek, CA, Sarah Packard moved to Chico in 2009 as a transfer student to complete her BA in Business Marketing at CSU Chico. She is currently one semester away from graduating and has joined the team at Engelbrecht Advertising as a summer intern to gain valuable job experience. Sarah’s experience ranges from working a year in fashion sales at Nordstrom, to a semester studying abroad in London where she participated in a cultural immersion program. In her free time, Sarah likes to spend time with family and friends, travel, and volunteer at the Butte Humane Society.
Hailing from the Central Valley town of Ceres, California, Jasmine moved to Chico in 1995 to pursue her college degree in Business Marketing & Design. She joined the team at Engelbrecht Advertising in 2012 after spending 13 years honing her marketing and design skills at the Ray Morgan Company, serving as Creative Director for the last 5 years of her tenure. Her love of art, technology and music are central themes in her life, and also help explain why design comes so naturally for her. When she’s not designing or listening to music she can be found slaying dragons or conquering the world in her favorite online games.
Sarah Langford joined Engelbrecht Advertising in 2012. A native of Auburn, Calif., she attended California State University, Long Beach, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English. Returning to her roots in northern California, Sarah served as newspaper editor and reporter for the Roseville Press-Tribune and Loomis News, magazine editor for the California Building Industry Association and, most recently, communications specialist for the statewide Association of California Water Agencies. She brings to Engelbrecht a love of writing, public relations and the creative arts. When not at EA, Sarah can be found biking around Chico and deepening her yoga practice.
